The Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT) hosted its Global Forum on September 29, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), materials data, and experimental automation within self-driving laboratories (SDLs). These SDLs aim to autonomously design and conduct experiments, marking a shift in scientific research paradigms, especially in materials science and chemistry.
Experts from institutions including Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Paul Scherrer Institute, Seoul National University, National Institute for Materials Science, and Tsinghua University shared insights on topics such as materials data standardization, AI-driven discovery, and digital research infrastructure.
The forum highlighted global trends in digital transformation of research and development, emphasizing AI’s role in accelerating experimentation and discovery. KRICT intends to leverage the event to strengthen its R&D capabilities and foster international collaborations in AI-enabled materials research.
KRICT President Dr. Seokmin Shin remarked that advances in AI and data technologies are reshaping experimental approaches and material innovations worldwide.
KRICT, established in 1976 and funded by the Korean government, continues to advance chemical technologies with a focus on global impact and sustainability.
